Fukushima still spewing massive radiation plumes; America in 'huge trouble,' says nuclear expert

During a recent Congressional delegation trip to Japan, Oregon Senator Ron Wyden witnessed with his own eyes the horrific aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, which we have heard very little about from the media in recent months. The damage situation was apparently so severe, according to his account, that he has now written a letter to Ichiro Fujisaki, Ambassador of Japan, petitioning for more to be done, and offering any additional support and assistance that might help contain and resolve the situation as quickly as possible. While referencing the fact that all four of the affected reactors are still "badly damaged," Sen. Wyden seems to hint in his letter that Reactor 4, which has reportedly been on the verge of collapse for many months now, could be nearing catastrophic implosion.

Reactor 4 has remained in such bad shape that even a very small earthquake could quickly level the building, sending the fuel from more than 1,500 unused fuel rods into the environment. "Sitting at the top of [Reactor 4], in a pool that is cracked, leaking, and precarious even without an earthquake, are 1,565 fuel rods, some of them 'fresh fuel' that was ready to go into the reactor on the morning of March 11 when the earthquake and tsunami hit," writes Consolo. "If they are MOX fuel, containing six percent plutonium, one fuel rod has the potential to kill 2.89 billion people."

Dr. Iverson's Comment

I am not a fan of the doom and gloom scenarios so let’s not get too hung up on this. It is important to be aware of the possibilities that could happen and prepare when necessary. When this disaster was on the brink I remember our office being flooded with phone calls for iodine. Iodine is the main element that the thyroid utilizes to make thyroid hormone. If we become exposed to radioactive uranium, it breaks down into radioactive iodine which can persist in the body for a long time and this is what causes the damage. The thyroid has a natural affinity to hold onto iodine and because it looks the same as the iodine found in your food, it gobbles it up and is unable to release it as the radiation mutates the cells resulting in thyroid cancer.

Taking iodine daily in the form of eating seaweed will fill the spaces that the bad radioactive iodine could occupy. However if you end up in a fallout situation you will want to take a high dose of iodine at first notice so the thyroid uptakes as much of the healthy iodine as possible.

Dosages: Adults or teenagers approaching adult weight (70 kg or 154 lbs of body weight) take 130 mg once a day, until significant risk of exposure to radio iodines no longer exists. Children through 1 month of age take 16 mg once a day, children over 1 month through 3 years of age take 32 mg once a day, and children and teenagers over 3 years through 18 years of age (less than 70 kg or 154 lbs of body weight) take 65 mg once a day, until significant risk of exposure to radioiodines no longer exists.

Now remember this only protects against thyroid cancer. Radioactive elements can flood the entire body causing cancer in the bones, blood, and just about anywhere they linger. Taking clays like bentonite, xeolite, sacred clay (pyrophyllite), and montmorillonites both orally (½ tsp four times daily for an adult) and soaking topically in baths to draw the radiation out.

This month I have also attached resources for food storage. Surprisingly, Costco has put together a whole kit for a family of four for nine months. I also included information from the survival center as they have access to more whole grains and beans that are nitrogen packed.
